General
MEFA Pathway is a college and career planning website to help students in grades 6-12 plan for academic and career success.
MEFA Pathway is MEFA’s free college and career planning website. MEFA Pathway furthers MEFA’s goal of providing resources for college and career-bound students in grades 6-12. Day-to-day operations of MEFA Pathway are managed by MEFA and MEFA Pathway users receive the full guidance and support that MEFA offers.
MEFA Pathway is available in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Chinese, and English. Users can change the site language by clicking the drop-down box in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
Getting Started
Visit mefapathway.org and click on GET STARTED. Follow the prompts and provide the required information to create your free account.
Parents cannot create a MEFA Pathway account. We encourage parents to log in with their student and explore MEFA Pathway together.
Yes. Non-Massachusetts residents can register for an account by selecting Outside of MA for City/Town and Other for School during the registration process.
Managing My Account
Students can have their username emailed to them by clicking the Forgot username link on the login page. They will be prompted to enter their email address.
Students can reset their password by selecting Forgot password on the login page. Students will be prompted to provide their email address or answer a security question created during the registration process. Any student who has too many failed login attempts will be locked out for 15 minutes. After that, the student may attempt to log in again.
Users wishing to delete their MEFA Pathway account should send an email to k12support@mefa.org
No, MEFA does not delete student accounts. However, if you used a school email address to register your account and no longer have access to that email inbox, you should update your account with a personal email address.
Features
MEFA Pathway has several self-discovery tools for students. There are three assessments that enable students to learn more about their interests, skills, and work values. MEFA Pathway also has a learning style inventory that enables users to discover how they learn best. Students can also build out their Profile and track their involvement in extracurricular activities, work experience, and awards. The Profile information can be used to create a resume.
Middle school students can create and manage a monthly budget by using MEFA Pathway’s My Budget tool.
High school students can utilize the College Cost Calculator to compare financial aid offers, the Loan Cost Estimator to plan for college debt, and the SAI Calculator to estimate financial aid eligibility. MEFA Pathway also features a scholarship search for students.
The Career Search uses data from ONET and contains information on over 700 careers. It includes information on careers requiring all types of education, from a HS diploma/GED to a doctoral degree.
Students can use the features within the Investigate your Future tool to look at labor market information based on location and career category. The data for these features comes from Lightcast.
MEFA Pathway’s College Search tool uses data from Peterson’s database and offers information on 3,748 different undergraduate colleges and universities.
The Digital Portfolio is a visual representation of the student’s journey through MEFA Pathway
The middle school section of MEFA Pathway offers four Discovery Zone activities that enable students to connect their interests and favorite subjects to future careers and a budget activity. Middle school students can earn badges as they complete activities throughout the site.
There are several features, such as the Profile, Goals & Strategies, and the Digital Portfolio, that transition with the student.
Yes, the MassTransfer Benefits tool illustrates how much a Massachusetts student can save by attending a Massachusetts community college and transferring to a Massachusetts public 4-year college or university.
Yes, Common App integration with MEFA Pathway is offered to participating schools that confirm participation.
Participating Schools
MEFA Pathway is a no-cost resource. Any school district may take advantage of the many features MEFA Pathway offers and become a participating school free of charge.
Becoming a participating school allows counselors access to the Counselor Portal. MEFA works with the designated data manager at each participating school to set up student rosters within the Counselor Portal. This creates a secure community that only users from that school can access, allowing counselors to support and guide students through postsecondary planning in preparation for college and career success.

Yes. A student’s MEFA Pathway account is never deleted, so the student will always have access to the Student Portal. Please note that if a student used a high school email address during the registration process, it is suggested that the student update to a personal email address after high school graduation.
No, we do not integrate with any student information systems (SIS). We offer integration with Clever for student single sign-on purposes only.

Privacy/Security
No, MEFA Pathway does not share any student data as stated in our agreement.
Yes, if a student is under the age of 14 and registering for a MEFA Pathway account at a non-participating school, the student will need to get parent consent. When the student creates an account, the parent will receive an email requesting consent for the student to access MEFA Pathway.
